To All GMFD Personnel:

Hardy Ridge Way Fire:

On behalf of the Administrative Officers of the department, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you who responded tonight.

FF Collopy initiated an aggressive exterior attack which held the fire in check until we had sufficient staffing to open floors and pull ceilings. You worked as a team and worked as you were directed.

The fire was the result of a lightning strike which appears preliminarily to have run in on the propane gas line-possibly blowing a hole in it- which in turn created a blow torch.

The homeowners asked me to pass on their immense thanks for a job well done. Mr. Cole is arriving tonight at GSP and other members of the family will arrive tomorrow.

Remember the two who were transported to GMH for heat related care. I'll update you as soon as possible.

Once again, THANKS. Each Hardy Ridge Way responder is an automatic bid for this week's ATTABOY awards.

Stay Safe.
Having the Courage So That Everyone Goes Home.

Chief

Allen Road Structure Fire:

On behalf of Chief Riebe, Chief Bailey and myself, a tremendous thanks to all that responded and performed various duties. Amidst the hot weather conditions, the long uphill driveway, and the fire itself, everyone is to be commended on the actions taken, both in fire suppression and support. We are also appreciative to the Tigerville F.D. the Slater-Marietta F.D. and Greenville County E.M.S. For all that were on the scene, please inventory ALL of your PPEs, and report to your Battalion Captain any equipment missing, damaged or not serviceable. If you are missing an accountability tag, there are several located on AC Bailey’s drop box.

Chief Riebe will be out of town until Friday attending a class at the Fire Academy. Any departmental business, contact AC Bailey or myself. FF Boyd Stewart was transported last night via EMS to the hospital. Boyd was released after 2am this morning, and is doing fine.

Remember to keep hydrated throughout the day. The summer months have not yet started and we all know the temperatures that have been upon us. Hydration does not begin on the fire scene. Please keep in mind your limits and be safe. Again, a thanks to all that were there when someone needed us in a time of crisis.

AC Hitt
