Month of July
Training: “Search and Rescue Training inside school
building”
|
|
The GMFD would like to extend a sincere thanks to
the Blue Ridge Christian Academy for allowing us to
use one of their classroom buildings to conduct
training.
Training
Scenario:
A hose crew has entered the
building where a fireman becomes injured and must be
rescued. A two man crew in full gear
including SCBA's is then
sent into the smoke engulfed building to find the
injured fireman. Due to the thick black smoke
the men must crawl following the hose line until
they find the victim.
They
must remain in radio contact with Incident Command
and must find the victim before the building becomes
engulfed in flames.
To simulate
the situation of zero visibility the firemen are
wearing their flash hoods on backwards so that their
hoods completely obstruct their vision. The
Medical Unit has set up a rehabilitation center to
administer to the firemen as then emerge from the building.
