2012 All Hands Training Schedule:
 
ON-LINE TRAINING:
As part of the 2012 All Hands Training members must  participate in the Kaplan Fire & EMS On-Line training program that has been set up specifically for Glassy Mountain Fire Dept.  Members may Register and Sign-In by following the link below.  Your Log-in & Password were contained in the 01-24-12 email from Chief Riebe.  If you don't have high speed internet access you are welcome to use the computers located at the Beaver Dam, Mountain or Oak Grove stations.

JANUARY 9th: Accountability, NIMS ICS, and Fire Service History- Describe history, culture and traditions of the fire service, organizational principles, fire company functions, and primary roles of fire personnel. Distinguish policies, procedures, and SOP’s. Summarize components of ICS and functions of major subdivisions of the ICS, with definitions of Terms.

FEBRUARY 6th: Fire Behavior, and Wild land Firefighting: Overview of the basic components of the combustion process, as related to chemical make-up, classification of fires, states of development and extinguishment/control.

MARCH 5th: Hose- Practical hands on skills demonstrating the basic hose rolls, loads and deployments and methods.

APRIL 14th: ANNUAL BURN REFRESHER (tentative)- TBA ( The proposed date is Saturday  April 14th 2012)

MAY 7th: Firefighter safety and survival), Rehab Operations, and Radio Communications- Describe general guidelines both on scene and at the station. EVDT safety and RIT are also covered, along with proper radio communications, and radio edict, and proper rehab operations.

JUNE 4th: Ladders, Small Engines, and Ventilation- Hands on approach to basic ladder raises and functions, implementing one and two firefighter raises, carries and team work. Safety of ladder placement and deployment will also be covered. Small engine care, operations and maintenance, both vertical and horizontal ventilation will be covered with a hands on approach.

JULY 2nd: “SCBA and Cascade System”: Proper donning and doffing of the SCBA, with emphasis on SCBA components and function. May Day call out emphasized. Proper filling procedures for the cascade system.

AUGUST 6th: Ropes and Knots- Given a piece of static kern mantle, participants will demonstrate basic knots related to the fire service, including family of figure eight. Tying off and hoisting equipment will also be covered. Participants will also be introduced to all the rescue equipment on the Tactical Rescue Trailer and be expected to be familiar with the names and uses for all equipment.

SEPTEMBER 10th: Pump Operations- Performance of basic pump operations, including hydrant hook- up and water flow. Dump tank deployment and dual dump tank operations.

OCTOBER 6th: Auto Extrication- Basic vehicle stabilization, cribbing, door/roof removal, dash roll and creating a third door. PPE and safety emphasized. (Saturday October 6th 2012)

NOVEMBER 5th: Search and Rescue, Pre-Fire Plans, and Forcible Entry- With the rescue manikin, conduct the basic primary and secondary search and rescue patterns, with emphasis on self rescue and calling a may-day.

DECEMBER 3rd: Hazardous Materials Awareness- A review of the basic components of responding to a hazmat incident on the awareness and operations level. Hands on skill will be implementing the ERG for obtaining information.
